Three Years at BIRTV: Connecting with China’s Color and Imaging Community

For the third consecutive year, Portrait Displays returned to BIRTV in Beijing, one of China’s leading exhibitions for the broadcast, film, and television industries. Each year, BIRTV gives us an opportunity not only to demonstrate the latest Calman solutions, but also to reconnect with the professionals who work with color every day, from colorists and DITs to cinematographers, post-production teams, display manufacturers, and technology partners.

This year felt particularly special. From our collaboration with BenQ on the show floor to an evening gathering of more than 60 industry professionals, BIRTV 2026 was a celebration of both technology and community.

Exploring Dark Tone Accuracy with BenQ

One of the highlights at our booth this year was our collaboration with BenQ, featuring the Calman Verified BenQ PV3250U professional monitor with enhanced Dark Tone Accuracy.

For professionals working in film and post-production, accurate color is critical across the entire image, and that includes the subtle details hidden in darker tones. During BIRTV, visitors were able to see and experience the display firsthand and learn more about the importance of maintaining accurate color performance in these challenging areas of the image.

The demonstration attracted strong interest throughout the show and sparked conversations about display performance, as well as how calibration, verification, and color management fit into real-world professional workflows.

It was exciting to see so many visitors stop by, ask questions, and engage with the technology themselves.

More Than a Trade Show: Bringing the Community Together

BIRTV is also about the people behind the images.

Alongside our exhibition presence, Portrait Displays was proud to sponsor this year’s Colorist Mixer, bringing together more than 60 colorists, DITs, and other professionals from the film and television production community.

The evening was energetic, informal, and full of conversation. Professionals from different parts of the production and post-production workflow had the opportunity to meet, exchange experiences, reconnect with colleagues, and discuss what is happening across the industry.

For us, gatherings like this are especially meaningful. Color technology continues to evolve, but the best solutions are developed by staying close to the professionals who use them every day. Their experiences, challenges, and feedback help us better understand where the industry is heading and where tools like Calman can make a difference.

Our Third Year at BIRTV and Still Growing
